You may ask yourself, "If I have a website, that should be good enough to market and generate leads to my business, right?"  While you are part of the way there, having a website up and running does not generate leads for you.  You may have the most beautiful or aesthetically pleasing website but without certain factors on the site, that's all  it really is..an online art gallery.

Let's take a moment to think about that.  I challenge you to google monkeys or bamboo, or even something else that you can think of.  What are the first couple websites that come up?  More often than not I bet Wikipedia comes right up.  Why is that?  Their website is kind of ugly right?  They come up because Google sees them as an authoritative presence.  Wikipedia does this by having the best and most unique content on their website, not because they pretty pictures with flash enabled or a fancy site.  This is one of over 200 factors Google takes into account when ranking a website.  We will talk about this (SEO) in a separate blog later on.

So now that we are ranked, what next?  Generate leads.  Now what I will go over are jus some of the basic lead generation tips, as there plenty of other and advanced techniques as well to draw interest and leads.
  1. Include a Contact a Number.  Obvious right?  Your contact number should be a focal point and be seen immediately.  This needs to be on every page of your website too.  This draws the attention of the potential customer and also gives you credibility because they see you as a legitimate business.
  2. Include a Contact Form on every page.  These are the websites that ask you to enter emails for more information or the more descriptive ones that ask you to literally fill out a form with your name, email address, phone number and reason for inquiry.  You can play with this and have variations on the type of information you are requesting.  A nice little “Free Quote” or “Contact us for Specials” can grab the potential customer’s attention and bit more inclined to reach out.  Having this on every page of your website is imperative.  You do not want to try to remember where that contact form was and navigate through the website searching for it.  Interest will be lost at that point.
  3. Pictures.  You can’t just have all content.  That’d be too boring.  Don’t go overboard though.  There is a certain content to picture ratio that Google likes.  Photos will help the customer visualize what you are trying to project and advertise.
  4. There are other factors that come into play such as possibly adding a video and adjusting your content in a such a way to grab the visitor amongst others.  We generally talk about the top 3 reasons because these are a MUST.  If you do not have this on your website, then you might as well not have one at all.  This will help you generate leads.  Another important thing is to make sure to test.  Test the placement, the wording, the type information you’re grabbing from the visitor, etc. Every niche or industry is going to be a bit different in response and interaction but with enough tweaks over time, you will have found the perfect formula for your website to generate the most leads for your business.
If you need assistance in setting any of this up or would like to talk more about lead generation or other strategies, please reach out to us.  We offer free consultation and would love to analyze your current website situation.

Why do I need a website?

“Why do I need a website?  I am doing well with my business and pay for other forms of advertising.”  We hear this all the time.  The only thing is in this digital age we live in; not having a website is a disservice to your business.  Newspaper ads, magazine ads, and mailers are a thing of the past and you are most likely wasting your money with them.  Digital marketing is on the rise and will continue to do so moving forward.  You cannot afford to lose business because you do not have a website.
Free forms of advertising you say?  Craigslist can work.  But wouldn't you rather spend your day on working with customers and actually performing your business duties than sit there in front of a computer and taking time to post ads on craigslist?  There’s no real way to track the business coming in with that unless you just come out and ask, “Where did you hear about us?”
Facebook?  This can work also but you don’t want to be the one that becomes annoying to your friends and family by posting your business or work all the time.  Sure there are local groups now where you can post your services but again, you have to spend time on promoting your business rather working it.

Here are some reason why you need to have a website for your business

  1.  Online Brochure - Having print brochures can be nice.  Having that paper in your customer’s hands, have something tangible and knowing that it is bringing in customers in can be gratifying.  But you are not getting as many eyes on your advertisement as possible.  This brings us to our next reason.
  2. More customers - You will be able to get more eyes on your business.  The digital ad, which is your website, is up 24 hours a day, 365 days year.  It never rests.  But you should be able to when you are not working.  Let the website work for you.
  3.  Marketing - This is the best and easiest way to market your business and show of your work.  You can show your most recent project, show pictures and even videos where potential customers can view and become impressed with your work.
  4.  Educate - You can educate your customer’s on what you do or why you are better than the competition.  Let them know that the services you offer are what the customer’s need and that they need to contact you.
  5. Building value - You instantly build value to your business and you become even more reputable in a world today where customers are asking if you have a website to view your work.

So when it comes down to it, you can see that there is no reason to not have a website.  There are plenty more reasons to having one but these are some of the main and important points.  Take a look at your advertising budget and consider a website.  Get rid of the print ad and update your business going into the digital marketing age.
